Reviews from Patrons...

Melanie Sanders did a terrific job on her debut! The timing, the business, the delivery was all just spot on tonight. Michael Westmoreland did a really fine performance and his delivery and timing were just great as were all the actors. Terri Wilson did an especially nice job tonight with lines and business. I haven't enjoyed a play as much in quite a while...since the last ALT play perhaps.

Linda and I were discussing our experience with ALT which began when we moved back to Amarillo in 2000. We think that it has gotten better each year and we thought it was great when we first attended a play here. The pool of talent that we have seen appear on the stages is truly wonderful. Our thanks to the casts and crews who constantly top themselves and produce shows that rival many of the 'big' city productions we have seen.

Can't wait for the next play.

"Becky's New Car" was truly a theatrical masterpiece.  A great script, fine direction, and an all-star cast had me laughing all night.  I was also in tears at other times.  I thoroughly enjoyed my night at the theatre.

Becky's New Car was fantastic! Terri Wilson gave an affecting, sympathetic portayal, and Jeffrey Pickens broke my heart with the last act.  I'm telling everyone I know to see this show - the cast was brilliant, and Melanie has created something very special.  Wonderful production, as always, produced at ALT.

-Marley Hoggatt

Becky's New Car was wonderfully funny and perfectly cast! There was never a dull moment and Melanie Sanders did a terrific job in her directorial debut! Congratulations, Melanie!

Show Summary

Amarillo Little Theatre is very pleased to present the new and very funny play Becky’s New Car as its first Adventure Space production of the 2013-14 Season.  This quirky and joyous comedy is certain to be a hit with all audiences.

In Becky’s New Car, we follow the high-speed life of Becky Foster—caught in middle age, middle management and in a middling marriage—with no prospects for change on the horizon. Then one night a socially inept and grief-stricken millionaire stumbles into the car dealership where Becky works. Becky is offered nothing short of a new life…and the audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun in a way that most plays wouldn't dare. Becky’s New Car is a thoroughly original comedy with serious overtones, a devious and delightful romp down the road not taken.

ALT has cast a very exciting group of veterans and newcomers for this production.  Becky is played by Terri Wilson.  The remainder of the cast includes Jeffrey Pickens, Noel Yuri-Bermudez, Michael Westmoreland, Don Shipman, Gemma Harris and Lori Boston.  Melanie Sanders is making her directing debut with Kim Shreffler as Assistant to the Director.

ALT audiences are encouraged to attend the Hastings’ Ovation Series talk-back session immediately following the performance on Sunday, August18.  It is a wonderful opportunity to take a behind the scenes look at the production.
