DIRECTOR’S NOTES

ALT’s 2017-18 season is well underway and it has been a great start!! We have already completed four fantastic productions………YES four! The season started with a fine production of Constellations at the Adventure Space is August. That was followed by our very successful production of Mary Poppins. This extraordinary production boasted full houses for its twelve show run with over 5,000 people in attendance. It was a "home run” in every way and it created a lot of excitement in the community for ALT. Good stuff. The Academy just completed its run of Seussical. I cannot say enough good things about this show and the work of the immensely talented young performers from the Academy. We opened Outside Mullingar at the Adventure Space on November 9. It is a very strong production. I am very proud of our work on this show. I want to thank all of the talented people who participated in making each of these productions the best they could be.

More good news! Our season ticket sales are up over 20% for this season. This is the first increase that we have recorded in several years. That is a sign. Our goal is to produce shows that will encourage more season ticket sales and higher attendance.

This issue of Curtain Call announces the opening of Plaid Tidings. Many of you may remember our great production of Forever Plaid, which we produced a number of years ago. Plaid Tidings is a Christmas themed sequel to Forever Plaid. The show features four men performing many of your favorite Holiday songs and lots of comedy. It will be a great way to get your family into the spirit of the season. Hope you will plan to attend.

I continue to be amazed by the commitment and passion of ALT’s volunteers. Our performers spend from 4-8 weeks rehearsing our productions and they give their time generously. Our board and patrons support us generously and our Guild does a fine job of providing crew lunches, operating our concession sales and rounding up ushers and ticket takers. It’s fun to be involved with a dynamic and successful organization. I love my job!!!

We have more great theatre coming your way in 2018. We hope you will plan to come along for the fun.

I look forward to seeing you at the theatre(s).
