You don’t have to live forever, you just have to live!
Amarillo Little Theatre Academy and Sparkman Orthodontics invited audiences on an exciting journey to a mysterious spring in Tuck Everlasting. This 2016 Broadway musical, faithfully based on Natalie Babbit’s 1975 novel of the same name, was nominated for many awards including the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Musical. With music by Chris Miller and lyrics by Nathan Tysen, the musical brings new life to this beloved, intriguing story.
11-year-old Winnie Foster decides that her “good girl” life in Treegap, New Hampshire could use a bit more adventure. On a whim, she decides to run away from her rigid life to her family’s wood where she accidentally discovers the Tuck family and their impossible secret. Winnie lives the life of adventure she has dreamt of for so long as she befriends the charming yet broken family. But when everything she wished for is offered to her, the beauty of the fenced-in life waiting for her back home seems suddenly difficult to leave behind. So which life will she choose, the new and exciting life she thought she always wanted or the seemingly boring life she ran away from that maybe has an excitement all its own?
Tuck Everlasting featured 72 inspiring Academy students from ages 5 – 18, directed by new Academy Director Mikayla Garren. Academy instructors Brandon Bellar and Beth Alexander lent their talents and leadership as Music Director and Choreographer, respectively. Tana Roberson served as Scenic Designer and Kaleena Nite and Amber Morgan costumed the cast beautifully.
